I spend a lot of time scouring photographs for something I haven't seen before - armament details, boat numbers, faces of the crew, etc. It helps date the photo, share it with family of the crew - you get the idea.
Steve Nugent (Nuge210) sent me this photo from 1944 Bastia showing a nest of Ron 15 and 22 boats. So, as a I scour this photo I come across an item that I would never expect to see on board a PT - but with the down time the men had, doesn't surprise me. Can you spot it?
HINT: it is not a military issue item to PT crews, and has no military application for PT sailors.

I can't spot it ( must be the older eyes ) although I do love the clothes line strung up from the gun suppresser rail forward. Lots of dirty laundry on that line.

Nathaniel - you win the prize!
Frank...we'll give you honorable mention for spotting the laundry, but skipping past the 36DD undergarment.
I wonder what's up with that? I've heard some stories of the "fun" the guys had in town - or could it be something less "devious" like hiring a local woman to do laundry - and she does her's at the same time?
Still - it gave me a good laugh to come across a bra on the line!

That's one hell of a BRA!! I thought it was 2 gunney sacks when I first spotted it, which was why I never even thought of a BRA..... Would love to have met the gal that fit into that monster, must have been lined with rebar...........

More than a handfull is wast... er... never mind. I think there may be ladies present.
What caught my attention was the visibility of the hull planking on the 204 boat. Also there's now a crew member to be found anywhere.
That's a great photo.

The area must have been secured, because one well placed bomb, would have taken out most of the boats in the photo. Good eyes Dave, you are correct in that no Crewmembers are present in the photo. They must have been visiting that gal with the huge BRA!!!

Don't really think it is a bra. There are no side straps and the right "cup" is tied to the line with a string. OF course, one can only hope....

SORRY CHARLIE MIGHT BE RIGHT!
I NOW THINK IT IS TWO WHITE HATS WITH STRING RUN THROUGH THE HATS INSIDE TAG. MY BOOT CAMP WHITE HATS HAD LOOPED TAGS.
THERE WAS ALOT OF WISHFUL THINKING GOING ON HERE THOUGH.
TAKE CARE,

OKAY - Just for fun and for the conspiracy theorists
"The Conspiracy Theory"
If you look to left at the grassy knoll - just fun ‘in . . . .
For the real conspiracy theorists and the real eagle eyes; if you look hard enough and behind the bra, to the left, a pair of white nurses hose. Just to the right of those, a white garter belt to hold up the hose. With the “piece de resistance” – to the right of the bra, a white nurses slip. Waaa La! The whole shoot’n match. Hopefully somewhere in this white mess must be the white nurses dress and white nurses cap.
BUT THEN MORE SERIOUSLY – The image below does place a little doubt into the mysterious “Bra Capper”, we will have to wait for Sam Spade or better yet, Humphrey Bogart to enter the case . . . . . . “The Maltese Bra, from Bastia”
Enjoy
