William "Bill" Sherry-Torpedoman Second Class-PT 342, Ron 24-passed away June 10, 2008, Meadville, Pennsylvania, he was 84.
My dad served aboard PT-342 in New Guinea and fired the torpedo that sank the Japanese minelayer off Cape Sansapore in September 1944. According to the official records, the only Japanese "ship" sunk by a PT Boat with a torpedo in the SW Pacific. He will be missed.

Jeff:
I was sorry to hear that your Dad has passed on. I am sure that you and your Family were very proud of his accomplishments during WWII. Although his life here on earth has ended, he is now united with his Crew, standing ready to serve with the Lord's PT Fleet............

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. The PT Boat veterans left are aware that the fuel in our tanks is limited. We take comfort in the fact that we gave the war and life one hell of a ride.
To your dad, Mission Accomplished.

Jeff:
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your father and offer my sincere condolences. I just recently lost my wife of 63 years and know of the sadness you encounter. We PT vets are dwindling.

Jeff,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your Father. God bless your Dad, and my sincere thanks for his service.
My Mom passed away just before Christmas, so I know what you are going through.
