Who was Porker?and Why was it his turn?
This Boat,the 99,Porkers Stern,has had me intrigued for some time,it doesnt seem to get mentioned very often.Im just interested if anyone knows anything about it and its crew.The numbers are a little obscured so im presuming its the 99.

PT99 was a Huckins boat assigned to RON14, then RON4. This is a late production Higgins PT.

Michael, while I can't say for certain, I believe my father Walter Bauer Jr. was a torpedoman who may have served on the 99. He often mentioned her name along with the "Knightmare" which I believe was PT 277 when he would talk about his time in the Navy. His separation papers, which unfortunately are the only thing I have to go on, list him as having served in ron's 17, 14, and 23, but unfortunately I have no idea of when; what boats etc that he may have been on other than the conversations and stories I remember him telling. Unfortuantely he died several years ago and I have been unable to really verify anything else.
I would certainly be interested in any information you come up with regarding her crew etc. to see if I can verify any thing.
thanks

Micheal;
As Al stated, PT 99 "PORKERS STERN" was a 78' Huckins that was first assigned to RON 4 at Melville, then later assigned to RON 14 in Panama. She was later sold after the war and lasted until the late 1970's- early 1980's, lastly existing as a houseboat I believe. She was last on the
Penobscot River, Maine.
Take care,
TED
