I'm doing a PT blitz over Father's Day weekend...I'm finally getting to see Frank's PT Exhibit; Battleship Cove, Melville and hopefully more. I also tracked down a crewmember of the 209 after a guestbook signing on pistolpackinmama.net and hopefully will get to meet with him.
Right now I'm trying to track down anyone who I can talk to about the Kingston area and "Fleet Obsolete" - Rob Iannucci's PT fleet.
The website, PT728.com, only mentions PT 728 (Vosper, right?) and a 78' Higgins PT 459. A newspaper article from 2006:
"Since his introduction to Trueman, he has purchased four World War II PT boats, including the first PT boat ever commissioned, one that made the D-Day landing in Normandy, and another piloted by John F. Kennedy in the Pacific. Iannucci has dubbed his growing PT boat fleet, which he believes is the only one in the world, Fleet Obsolete."
The contact information on pt728.com doesn't seem to work on the first couple of tries; the yahoo account I sent the email to gave me an error return stating the address isn't legit. I called the phone number twice but it rings and rings. I did a net search on the number to see where I was calling but it is only listed as a cell phone.
Anyone have the inside track? I'm still going to stop and see what I can see, but it would be great to see more than a hull through a dusty window
I'll of course give a full report to the members here! Thanks in advance for any help.

OK...I've had some success! Third time's the charm with the phone number. I talked with Steve Ladin, who's listed as the administrator for their PT Boat museum. If it all goes according to plan, we'll meet Saturday morning while I'm on my way up to Frank's exhibit.
There are apparently four boats in total - so that newspaper blurb above seems to be on target. I can't wait...this weekend should be a lot of fun.

Mr Newsnerd99,
A favor to ask, when your in Kingston and if you run accross a gray hull thats a 63 crashboat can you snap a photo and post.
A gentleman by the name of Tim Ivory may be the owner and he also works for Fleet Obsolete.
This was a Sea Scout Ship in Kearny, NJ from 1972 till 1996 and will hopefully be restored with the PT fleet.
I do plan to follow your pilgramange to Fall River via Kingston later this summer. Our Scout unit visited Battelship cove with our boat in the mid 70's, the trip was great fun for we snot-nosed teens!
Thank you in advance,
Glenn Anderson

I'll be taking lots of photos of anything I can! I'd be happy to ask about the ARB...and I'll get back to you.
