I found these in the bottom of the RON 19 Box I have. Not sure if they are from GREEN ISLAND or VELLA LA VELLA.

#34. Not sure where this was taken. No identification of the reverse.

#35. A Beautiful shot with a lone PT BOAT racing across the water. What a color shot that would have been.

#36. Not sure where this was taken, but you can see Channel Markers put out for the shallow parts.

#33. A shot of an island native girl. Was this GREEN ISLAND.

On/about the girl. I would reckon she is Polynesian or such ? She would probably not be Melanesian. Green Island had some atolls nearby (Pacific wise), that had Polynesians- I do not know at this time about Green Islands pop. mix.

Green Island, from just the briefest look online looks to be very flat, whereas Vella LaVella is not and poulated by Melaneasians.

Frank;
Looking at the charthouse on the boat in photo #34, you can see the adapter system is applied, if Dick can somehow enlarge and enhance it, because it looks like it will get very fuzzy if enlarged, we might be able to see a number. She is a RON 10 boat.

Ted . . .

The original scan I got from Frank is too small and not enough resolution to get anything better then the scan below. Some spots might be artifacts - not sure. However you can see a giant finger print over the PT boat.

Frank and Dick;
Well that was a bust, we can only go by history on this photo which just guessing would be around Dec 1943-Jan 1944, it is a RON 10 boat. I believe this was the first squadron in the Solomons to generate towards every boat having Radar. For example: PT 170. 171, 174 as of Aug 2, 1943. By Jan-March 1944 (Green Island) all of RON 10 had Radar.
Take care,
TED

Think that's an "egg crate" rocket launcher on the deck edge near the cockpit?
