I think my favorite part of looking at PT photos is seeing the "nose art" or the names of the boats/guns/etc. I don't know what it is (maybe my sleep-addled brain) but "LA-DEE-DA" gave me a chuckle this morning.
Thanks for the pics!

Thanks for the 308 pictures. I can't wait to show them to Crew Member Walter Pirog, who served on the boat as Motor Mac.

Frank;
Alyce Mary told me when I purchased these that Walt had sent a bunch of photos into PTHQ, She also gave me his address, but this was 12 years ago now. During this time frame, while I was still in Panama, Vern Peak had written me the nicest letter about 308 and the possibility of restoring her, a month or so later I had wrote him back with a big letter just chock full of questions. A month went by and I didn't think anything of it, but the next month the latest version of the PT BOATER came out and Vern's name was on the last patrol list. To say the least I was shocked, He was always a very social man and he and his wife were always going on trips or to functions somewhere. He was just non-stop.
Talk to you later,
TED

The batch of photo's I put up on the message board were photo's that Walter had given me ( I am sure you saw them ) The jacket I have in the Exhibit and the Binnoculars were given to me by Vern Peak from PT 308 several years ago. I will try and send a photo of the Jacket for the message board. Matter of fact, I think that photo is already one that I posted of my Exhibit. Will check.

It looks like Dick fixed the broken images Russ, can you see them now? Welcome to the PT Forum by the way!

It looks like the lettering on the boat was photoshop'd on these images. Am I wrong about that?

Russ . . .
The photo links were lost due to the ”PhotoBucket Hostage Scheme” a few years back, now. It took a bit but I finally found them in our Gallery and reposted new image links. I also added another Message Post link, that included additional images of PT308, if interested. Those also were missing and new links created from our Gallery.

Most definitely! I remember think way back then, that someone probably used a ballpoint pen to printed the numbers on an actual photograph and scan it to create the digital image. However, the photo would have to be photoshop’d because the original number would have been on a different plane where the number would have only been partially seen. Such as the second photo below it, that shows the 308 numbers clear on a side facing plane.
I suspect, someone used the cloning tool, and cloned a clean surface, then using the mouse, hand drew the numbers in. I would have used the typing tool with an appropriate font, type the number, then with the distort tool modify it look more realistic.
Thats enough of my PhotoShop 101 crap!
Not sure when or who did a retouch, but, this photo has been around for a very long, long, time.
I have a copy of the same photo but not retouched, see below:
