In pic #40, looks to be a fairly stable ride. The guys seem to be enjoying the cruise. What speed would those Boats be going in that picture? With all the hardships y'all put up with, times like the picture shows, had to be fun. An 80 footer going 40-45 mph had to be awesome.

Dan, the boats in figure #40 are not doing thier top rated speed. As the Elco boats reached top rated speed the forward hull would be out of the water as much as two thirds, so my best guess is roughly 25-30 MPH..

I just recently found this site. My dad, Lt. Elmer L. Douglas, was the skipper of PT 336 when these pictures were most likely taken. I have other pictures of him and his crew in my office. He died in 1984 and lived in South Dakota most of his life. This is a very interesting site.

#35 and #40 are from the same sequence, so the fuzzy boat closest to the camera is PT 336. I have seen several of these photos on another site, including the fuzzy one.
I know you are well versed in photography, but see if you can save those damaged ones too. 70+ photos is quite a lot. If you think it can be done scan as many damaged ones as you can, and I am sure I am not the only one here who will offer to repair some via photoshop and paint programs.
