Ike;
Yes that was a tell tale sign of PT 305, just like a tell tale sign of PT 308 was the 1/4 inch plate mounted by carriage bolts on the port and stbd side of the fuel tank/engine room area. While this was a common addition, which I believe was suplied to all boats in RON 22, PT 308 was the only one to carry it her whole life. She even had it on when I was last on her in 1986-87 at Franklyn Timmons boat yard in Dagsboro, Del. She also had it when she was destroyed.
Take care,

Ike,
I don't believe the 305 had portholes in the hull while she was in service, I think they were installed during post-war years.

Garth,
If you search RON 22 photos they have a picture of PT305 Sudden Jerk in port and you can see the portholes in the picture. As far as I know the 305 was the only known PT with Portholes.
The 305 is now indoors and out of the weather. Now the real work starts. More pictures on Thursday.

Garth, I think Ike is right, here is a pic of the PT305 taken in WW2 showing the porthole. Those are the XO Morse and the CO Purdy and the crew in dress blues. Jerry
Here is another picture taken inside the CO Stateroom showing Porthole inside CO bunk. I think this may be on board PT 309. I think that is Bill Pleasants in the picture, but am unsure.
