Dick was kind enough in his busy day to enlarge the photo's we spoke about. First photo looks to be the USS LEARY, but the second photo seems to be another DD Ship. Dick could not get any closer so if your eyes are better then my 51 year old sockets it should be a breeze for ya.............

By the way, unknown 70 footer racing out to meet her. Not sure why, but it is on the back of the photo.

Thanks Frank and Dick.

My 51 year old sockets aren't much better. But...

If the first picture is a part of the series of shots 63 and 64, then it pretty much looks like DD-158 LEARY. The second picture looks like DD-126 - BADGER which was in the Caribbean area at the time. I know it is not DD-168 MADDOX because she was given to the Brits in Sept 1940.

According to DANFS, DD-128 - BABBITT and DD-156 J. FRED TALBOT were in the Caribbean at that time, also.

But the interesting thing is that the LEARY according to DANFS, should have been on duty in New England area. Maybe she went down there for Spring Break. Guess I'll have to pull the Deck logs! Oh Boy, another trip to the Archives!!!

Steve

I see DD-158, although it sure loos like DD-168. I checked them with my Loop, and I am pretty sure it is DD-158, now that Dick gave us a closer view. By the way Steve, I sent you several E-Mails which went unanswered..........

Yes, four stackers of the WWI variety.

Frank,
I just looked at your museum pics. I really like what you have done.
The enlargements you post are really helpful for detail.
If any of the pictures I have posted are of value to your exhibit you are welcome to use them.
I have little info on my dad's PT 221 boat, but I hope to compile more in the future. I do know PT 221 went to the Aleutians and was involved in Kamikaze attacts at Mindoro. My Dad talked about his crew shooting down a plane. I see that his unit got a Navy Commendation Medal.
I have a few pics at the URL below.
