Hello all! What were the types of optics carried on a PT for the crew?
My grandfather walked away at some point with a WWII dated (1943 I think) Navy spyglass in its wooden box/crate. It's large (about the size of a rifle) and heavy - not something that would be easy to use on a PT. That being said; the magnification power on it is much higher than Navy Binoculars...it's something like 24x.
The 1943 date doesn't mean he got it from his PT service....Pop remained in the Navy Reserves through Korea, so its possible he liberated it at at time in the 1940's.
So how about it...was it binoculars only on a PT? Anyone know of high-power spyglasses being used?

THE ONLY THING I CAN REMEMBER IS BINOCULARS .WE HAD TO CONSTANTLY KEEP THEM TO OUR EYES WHEN ON PATROL.SOME OFFICERS MADE THAT VERY CLEAR TO US.ESPECIALLY WHEN ON WATCH GOING TO AND WHEN WE GOT TO PATROL STATIONS.

Thanks! That's what I thought but I didn't want to go guessing.
