Close-ups as requested:
Close-up - appears to be a flat bottom boat with a can in the center (maybe a sealer or paint or grease for linkage). The flat bottom boats appears to be tied-off from the center-front up to an aft cleat on the PT, probably the same on the other side.
Just an overall enlargement of PT 315 - nice clean shot.

Dick;
Sorry to be a bother, but can you zoom in on PT 139 like the one you did on 315? I have not seen too many photos of 139. She was sold and later was a party fishing boat called "THE QUESTION MARK". she moored for years behind THE DUCK INN in Ocean City, Maryland. She fell into disrepair and unfortunatly the city took possession of her and towed her out and added her to the artificial reef they started making in the 1980's.
take care and a big thanks for everthing you do for this forum.
Regards,
TED

Of no particular consequence, two of the boats pictured in this Melville series (PTs 139 & 140), were used in Florida as on-camera PTs for the filming of THEY WERE EXPENDABLE.....
