Hello Board members!
I need some help. I saw on the 2007 PT Boats Inc. Calendar a photo of 4 78 foot Higgins of the PT231 class loaded as deck cargo in New Orleans on an LST. I am pretty sure the PT658 was loaded in the same way on an LST along with her sister boats PT657,659 and 660. This happened around the end of July, 1945. Anecdotally I have been told that they were sent through the canal to Seattle on their way to Russia, but the war ended while the LST was in Seattle/Bremerton and turned around and offloaded the boats in Port Huyneme, Ca around Nov 1945. Is there any way to figure out what LST they were loaded onto? I would like a photo if one exists. I am not sure how to find this information and any help would be appreciated. Where do I strart looking? Thanks Jerry

Jerry: The Port Huyneme facility used to have a small museum section; you might try contacting the PIO at Huyneme on the off chance some sort of record exists.......

Jerry

I had wanted to find out if any records had exsisted on that very subject several years ago. I was curious as to which boats went with which TANKERS, CARGO SHIPS, LST's ect. Not much results in that department. I am in hopes you might get some better news than I had. Maybe Will's information might provide some good leads. I was told that records were not kept on which PT BOATS were hauled to different places. Some pictures certainly exsist of the boats in their cradles, but nothing to say what ships they are. I hope we can dig something up. It would make for intresting History.
