Hiya Frank-

We e-mailed each other about a year and a half ago, I reckon, and you sent me a couple of pictures of your FEMU diorama at your exhibit.

This is a magnificent piece of workmanship and I'm very impressed by the amount of detail you put into that diorama you built.

How long did it take you to build and what scale did you work in?

Hello Frank:

I will assume you are talking to me. Thanks for the kind words, but the Diorama was not built by me, but by my very good friend, Stan Pienkowski. Another friend of mine, Al Moore had sent me some great pictures of a FEMU Barge, complete with Crane and Quonsett Hut and PT Boats nestled next to her. I blew up the photo's and got together with Stan to go over the details. I felt that this was an area of the PT BOAT SERVICE that folks really knew little about, so why not do one. We choose the 1/72 scale boats because anything larger and I would need a Tractor Trailer to haul it. The boats are from Ron 21, because as I remember, I saw a picture of two boats somewhere and thought I would use those. Stan did a super job for a first time Diorama, with many remarks being made from all those who see it. FEMU Crews and their barges got little recognition during the War, but did quite a bit in keeping the boats in fighting trim and allowing the boats to operate close to enemy lines. Stan does all my models and is a first class person and Master model builder.........

Ahoy there again Frank-

Yeah, buddy, I am almost possitive that it was you I was chatting with back and forth with e-mails. It must have been maybe 1 1/2 or 2 years ago when you sent me a few shots of the barge being built mid progress. It really looked great then, and to see that diorama now, all I can say is WOW!! Very nice job! I'm way down here in Jacksonville Florida but I would love to meet you one day and shake your hand for all you are doing to keep that museum going and keeping the PT boat history alive and well. Keep it up!
