Now that Alice has passed, what will be the disposition of the organizations holdings (the boats, records, photos, etc.)?

Well, PT Boats is still in business. The Board is setting up a meeting to discuss these issues.

I would think that the 1st order of business would be to get that Higgins PT BOAT out of the elements and under cover. It has been sitting under a tarp for many months now, and I don't care what type of tarp you have or what type of ventilation, that boat will begin to deteriorate. Inside the displays on the battleship is a mess. Here is a photo sent to me just the other day of a section of the display area, which I heard was closed to the public. The Elco boat on display is full of dust, according to a friend who visited a week ago. I have offered my help in any way but someone needs to take charge and fast.

It would appear that Meghan Rathbun has her work cut out for her. The fact that the PT Boat museum is closed to the public is a bit mind boggling. Other than security what is the cost of maintaining that exhibit?
One also can wonder what came of the PT Boat endowment trust held by PT Boats Inc. I fully appreciate a large portion of the trust was spent on the restoration of PT 617; a worthy cause. But, if PT Boats Inc felt the obligation to maintain the PT Boat artifacts was that of Battleship Cove, that was a bit misguided. We can expect the PT Boats to be neglected by an organization that has to keep a battleship maintained. If PT Boats Inc. did not plan for the continued maintenance than I am afraid the outcome will not be favorable to retaining these historic craft.

Losing PT Coordinator Don Shannan was a huge blow to the organization. Don did a great job in seeing that the PT BOATS and their artifacts were taken care of the best he could. It seems that Battleship Cove being stretched so thin they do very little in maintaining the boats or artifacts. The new gal in charge will be hard pressed to try and take care of all that is there at the Cove. Unless new volunteers help out, things will remain the same. I just read an article about them getting a building to house some Helicopters well what about the Higgins PT BOAT. If they are not going to maintain her, she needs a new home.

The picture posted above is, or was, Don's temporary working area. He was using it to photograph and catalog the holdings we have there. He chose that spot because he could gate it off and it had more room to lay things out that he didn't have in his office. And unfortunately, it is temporarily not accessible. But when Don was there, he would open it if someone wanted to see that area.
Trust me when I say we know all about things going on at BB Cove and PT Boats. It is a complicated situation that we are working to resolve.
