Gents;
Here is the latest, from August 2020:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/packard-v12-marine-engine/#comments-anchor

This brings the number up to 8 or 9 engines now, that they have.
I enjoyed your additional posts Randy!

Take care,
TED

Hey Ted
Do you have any news from Kingston about any work progress being made on any of his boats? I was kind of hoping to see restoration work begin someday? Do you have any visibility to what if anything has been repaired on Elco PT48 for example? Just curious if there is any news of progress. Thanks Jerry

I live 45 minutes from Kingston NY and was planning on taking a drive up in the next couple of weeks. Two years ago I was in contact with a member of Fleet Obsolete. She was looking to build a volunteer staff and a board of members for the project however there was no clear leadership just a bunch of talk and I have not heard from anyone since. I hope they can get this off the ground and move forward with the project but I fear like Frank said that the boats will just rot away. When I go to NY I will post lots of pictures of what I find and hopefully get some more info on whats going on.

Jerry

There is no News. I have been trying to become involved with the restoration of PT-48, but over the years there is really nothing more then empty promises. They had a somewhat of a half ass board put together last year, but they moved no where. Tim Ivory is about the only one there that knows what should be done but so far nothing has moved forward and the boats continue to rot each day. I backed out of becoming involved because nothing ever happens, and I doubt it will. The boats have been there for plenty of years with nothing moving forward. I doubt it ever will, which is a terrible shame as PT-48 is a war Veteran and should be restored. The best thing is if someone would get control of the 48 boat and start from scratch.

Has anyone been below deck on the 48 boat? I just wonder if there is anything left from her PT days? Cheers, Dennis

Dennis;
It’s just a hull. All the below deck stuff was removed when 48 worked as a Tour boat in Miami in the 1960’s and 70’s.

Thanks Ted! At least I know now, kind of figured that was the condition. Not much to work with, but better then nothing, maybe glass quarter full for the optimist! Cheers, Dennis

Of all the boats that remain, PT-48 is the one that should be saved and restored. Having an Elco 77 Footer that was actually a war veteran would be huge. I don't care if it runs or would be static, it needs to be saved and where it is now, it will be nothing more than a pile of wood in the next few years
