All;
Frank had a very interesting post on his Facebook page yesterday.
Apparently, according to Dana Barlow, after the movie wrapped up, the boat was towed to “Blue Lagoon” near the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Miami. After about a year some vandalizing delinquents set the boat on fire, and it burned to the waterline.
Well, it sure looks like it’s still there..
Attention: Experts here who helped me prove PT 59 was still there after USCG swore up and down it was destroyed and removed…..What are your opinions about this famous Movie Boat?? Check out the photos from Google Earth:
Take care,
TED

I have always wondered what happened to them also (I think there was three converted). I hope that is the boat there and it can somehow be salvaged...expensive no doubt but worth the effort...

Rock;
Yes there was 3 boats, but according to the local, this is the 109 movie boat.
Take care,

I was looking on Google maps and see where you are talking about. The Blue Lagoon seems to be practically inaccessible to boats. I do see a small dock associated with a Condominium complex/apartments, with a couple of small pontoon boats docked there. The only other access for a boat is from the Tamiami Canal and under a couple of bridges into the Blue Lagoon. I wonder if boats are discouraged from going into the Lagoon? It might make it difficult to get up close to the wreck. Another option would be to pull off the right side emergency lane of the toll road expressway leading to the airport. That seems to be even more sketch than the boat. Good luck in your adventures!

Maybe this map will help, you can zoom in pretty tight! www.google.com/maps/place/94th+Aero+Squadron+Restaurant/@25.7853416,-80.2879718,51m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x88d9b9dd314dc1e5:0xea61285f3cc2fc1c!8m2!3d25.7850705!4d-80.2875954!16s%2Fg%2F1tj46q9s All I see is a P-38 Lightning, made out of fiberglass, and some trucks? Cheers. Dennis
