Anyone recall seeing this photo? The caption read "Elco 77 footer being converted to private yacht, England, 1969.

Tried to post the image here but clearly didn't make it. But you can see it three times in the photo gallery under recents! I've had this photo in my files for 50 odd years and I think I copied it with my trusty Nikon while drifting through the photo files at the offices of Sea Classics magazine in about 1973. Challenge Publications used to get all kinds of unsolicited packages in the mail (no PCs and no internet yet) and it would be my guess that is how this came to be in the filing cabinet. There was no indication that it had been used by the editors at the time. I'm posting this as a small teaser to the numerous previous post about the sad state of PT48 as the last fading hope for the existence of a 77-footer.

This is exPTC5, exMGB86, a 70' ELCO. She was owned by Bill Rowe and was damaged in a fire, rammed by a barge, and eventually scrapped. Apparently, Bill lost his wife and son in the fire. I have quite a few photos of her and can post if there is any interest.

Yes PT 48 is the last hope for a 77 foot ELCO. So everyone start religiously playing Mega Millions ASAP! So we can form a dedicated restoration group.
Interestingly, in the 1960’s and early 1970’s Ex-PT 48 (then named Nikko l) was once again along side her slightly older sister EX-PT 40( then named Nikko ll)carrying tourists for Nikko Tours at Haulover Beach, Miami.
Since I first discovered EX-PT 48 in Onancock, Virginia in 1991-92, (and took my date out twice on her for dinner cruise, with my high school classmates Grandfather, “Guest Skipper” LT. Carlton “Byrd Dog” Byrd, USNR - MTBSTC, PT 114 RON 5, 2, 6, DIV 17, 8, PT 150, RON 12, MTBSTC/RON 4, PT 569 RON 38, at the wheel).
Since 1992, I have not been able to locate EX-PT 40 or learn her final fate.
