This posted material is from the MotorBoating magazine 1941 issues:
This posting issues are from the year of 1941, again to see if there appeared to be any impact of the ongoing WWII in Europe, on U.S. motor boating.
The following 1941 issues will include more (six) stories relating to motor torpedo boat in general, and more advertisements supporting the war effort (which I have great interest in). Elco still runs extensive advertising as in earlier years, but Huckins begins to hold back on adverting in this publication. Higgins, who wasn’t advertising in previous years (except fo the early teens of 20th century), begins to enter into advertising in this 1941 publication. Again in this collection of ads, includes non-war relate content, in other words leisure boats. Unlike earlier years/issues, in this 1941 issues, advertisements with WWII support content, begins.
The Motor Boating magazine publication began in 1907, with publishers including the Hearst’s Magazine Publisher, as well as others. The magazine name was changed in 1970 to “Motor Boating and Sailing”, and again to “MotorBoating” in 2000. The magazine’s publication came to an end in 2011. It was/is a copyrighted publication, and current status or ownership of copyrights since, are unknown.

Thank you Dick, lots of early PT history here! It certainly shows that the PT's were popular with the public even before hitting the war zone.
Man I'd love to have one of those 1941 Elcoette 32 Angler's. What gorgeous lines, such a sexy boat.
You can't blame Sterling Engine Co. for using PT boats in their ads. Based on all the ads from a wide variety of mfg's both during and after the war, PT's sold! And maybe they were using the public to try to push the Navy into using them in PT's.

It's nice to be reminded, that our WWII PT Boat fleet were not handed down by the PT Boat Gods, fully formed on stone tablets! Lots of blood sweat and tears, by the designers, and builders, with input by the Navy with lots of mistakes along the way. The end results were pretty good! Cheers, Dennis
