Great site!
Growing up with the Sea Scouts on AVR-1357 during the 70's in Kearny New Jersey, I can really respect the PT Boat community! In fact our Sea Scout unit visited Fall River in the mid 70's aboard our 63 AVR. I myself met Boats Newbery at a PT convention in Edison , New Jersey, 1975 I think.
Our boat was built by Detroit Yacht Basin in the 50's. We aquired the 63 in 1970 from the Army Corps of Engineers. It had an uguly box cabin on it and we rebuilt to original specs and started cruising the northeast waters. After 23 years of service we could no longer afford the upkeep. At last I heard she in in the Roudout area of Kingston NY.
I see some members have AVR experiance, I have many photos to share.

Ken,
I'm not sure why our contact failed. Prehaps you can post your E-mail and I'll send some photos.

Greetings All!
Thanks for the help in tracking down info on the crash boats! The Coastal Forces Group really came thru as did some PT Boaters!
I've found out further techincal info.
Our 63 was built in 1954 at Detroit Basin Inc, not sure what state, no records.
Her offical title is:
Standard Navy Model Mark IV, USAF Mode R-37A, 63' Rescue Boat.
Hull # ARB R-37A 1357.
Back in the 70's I built a model of our 63 from the original blueprints and am in the process of re-storing and re-building. A 63 doesn't have much deck hardware as a PT, only twin 50's but I'll sure be useing info and tips from this site.
Interesting side note;, My father in WWII was a Kings Point Engineer with the Merchant Marines and told me that his ship delivered PT's to the South Pacific, I think it may have been the Uss Turkey Island.
Anyone concure?

Thank you all for your service!

Glenn

Mr Newsnerd99 and other shipmates traveling thru the Kingston New York area,
This is a photo of the Sea Scout Crashboat, circa 1980's.
I'm sure its in a state of repair but hopefully she can take her place along side of the PT Fleet!

Thanks again!
