Hello,
I’m trying to ID this PT boat that was captained by my Grandfather-in-law. His birthday is coming up, and we’d love to either commission a painting/model being built, but knowing the correct model will make a huge difference.
I’ve attempted to attach a photo, hopefully it works.
It was known as PT Susan Ann. It appears to have operated out of Big Pine Key in roughly 61-62 gun running and as an infil/exfil platform for multiple anti-Castro forces.
It was most famous for the shelling of the Blanquita hotel in August of ‘62 that led to the CIA cutting ties with it’s crew.
That’s the majority of the info, if there are any questions I can answer I gladly will.
Thanks in advance for all of your help. |

Seems the photo failed to upload, here’s a link to where I hosted it. Hope this is allowed!

PT Susan Ann was a 70’ Vosper. The other boat they used named PT Terry Knot looks to be a 63’ Air Sea Rescue boat.
Take care,
TED
P.S. Funny thing Castros Cubans actually had an 80’ ELCO PT (R-43 I believe it was numbered) , a 70’ Vosper and a 78’Higgins. I know one of them was blown up in a UDT swimmer attack, but I don’t know which one.
