Thanks to senior member, Jerry Gilmartin, The PT 658 Heritage, for providing this training course textbook he obtained from the estate of Duane Kragrud, who was stationed at Base 17, Samar Island, in the Philippines. This is a simple three-hole-punched typewritten booklet, probably created by immediate personal at Melville.
The book has been included on the Free Documents Page of this Forum. See the documents link button on the menu bar. It is the first listing under "PT Boat Manuals".
Below is a direct link to my Dropbox account for downloading or reading this text book:

Thanks for sharing, Jerry!
All the best,

Thanks for posting this book Dick! I saw a couple of new guys Paul and Thunderbird recently asking about how to perform a Shaft Alignment and or repair the Reverse Gear. This book covers all kinds of arcane PT Boat information about such items as how to maintain the Vee Drives on Elcos, and Communication between the Engine Room and Helm when underway. I am not sure how much about the reverse gear is in here, that will be in the Packard Repair Manual which I will be delivering to Dick in near future.

Jerry and Dick, thank you for posting this manual. my father was the MoMM along with his life long best friend Ralph Christensen on PT 248. This will be a great addition to the notes I have of my dads training.

Lots of interesting info, thanks guys! I see that the Packard 4M-2500 was considered an aviation engine according to page 37(?), I didn't know that.

Dick & Jerry:
Thank you for making this document available, it addresses a large number of questions about the boat operations that most of the manuals do not.
