Hello everyone,
I am building the Revell 1/72 kit of PT-117 that was assigned to RON 6. Does anyone know if the squadron or 117 was repainted in some sort of camo verses the monotone grey? The only pictures I have found of it (two black & White) appear to be Grey. But I would think it would have had camo applied prior to being destroyed by air attack at Rendova in August of 1943.
Sincerely,

I dunno, she still looks gray to me. I think green would have shown darker.

Hello Will,
Yeah, it looks Grey to me as well. The stickler is when were the pictures taken? The boat looks almost brand new in those pictures and it appears to have only the factory standard armament of 20mm and twin .50's. I suspect the photos were taken shortly after it was placed in service. I'm sure it went to the South Pacific in Grey but from what I read most boats were repainted or camouflaged (per Navy orders or add hoc) by 1943. I got to make a decision soon our group build ends on the 31st.
Sincerely,

Just thought I would add some early shots of the 117 boat.
These were probably taken before it shipped to the Pacific

Hello Drew,
Thanks for the extra information. I think I will order that book. The group build I entered finishes this coming weekend but the book will be useful beyond that. I guess I will go with a Haze green type color and hope for the best.
Sincerely,
Brian
