.. especially #4.. them fellas looked as happy as could be.. shirtless, sun shining down on them, & no doubt a fellow PT'r with a camera takin' the shot.. sigh, to have been on that boat back then.. they were dig'n it no doubt!

Always love to see the still of 174 from the news reel. Funny, that she retained the zebra pattern .50 covers to the end! Looks like they toned the white down with some kind of green. Even with the big Bofor, she could still get up on step!

The 174 has what looks like a spotted tarp attached to the port torpedo. At first I thought it might be a funny sign for passing boats, but zooming in I don't see any message:

Side dropped fish vs. tubes... fuggedaboutit!... s/d had to be the biggest improvement for PT's, outside of the Thunderbolt, I mean such a simple method.. them guys at Melville... but ohhhhh that Thunderbolt!

One other great thing about the shot of the 174, you see how many men it took to operate the PT boats. I count at least 12, and maybe the hair of another behind the Bofor. Plus there had to be at least a couple of Motor Macs in the engine room. Along way from Ernest Borgnine, operating PT-73 all alone in one of the movies!

Ahh, the 80' Elco PT.

In my opinion, the most aesthetically pleasing of all the U.S. PT boats.
