Greetings,
I'm a big fan of a relatively new model kit company called Black Cat Models. They produce kits using 3D printing technology combined with other multi media materials such as photo etch and resin casting (from 3D printed masters). Very high detail and quality.

Here are the CAD drawings for the soon to be released LCI kit in 1/350 scale. I wish they would do it in a larger scale. They are planning a variety of versions including the UK Square Bridge model, as well as with the side ramps. I've challenged them to make some PT's to tie along side. One can only hope.

Look familiar Jerry?

Wow! Thank you David! I will be forwarding this to all my volunteer crew on board USS LCI713! We have been looking for something to sell to visitors and this is perfect. I will be obtaining some for my personal collection as well. Do you know how can I get in contact with them?
PS check our web site out https://www.amphibiousforces.org
We also have a link to our Facebook Page on the home page with many photos taken recently.

I've read a lot of good comments about this company's products Jerry, I think you'd have some happy customers!

I heard back from Black Cat Models today. They said that the 713 was a source for their kit when they designed it.

Jerry, was the USS LCI713 in Oakland, CA (Jack London Square) back in 2012?

Hi Gerry
No the LCI713 has been unable to move since her engines were removed. Another LCI (now renamed LSI) 1091 is beached just outside Eureka CA in Humboldt Bay and it did visit San Diego a few years ago so that may have been what you remember. I have no idea if they ever visited Oakland CA, but I dont think they went there. Today the 1091 is up on the mud near the Samoa Cookhouse Restaurant and I believe there is still a small group of volunteers that can give you a tour. Check the Humboldt Sea and Air Museum website for more info about 1091.

Hey Jerry, I saw a post by Ben of BCM on https://members.boardhost.com/Warship/ (titled: New 1/35O kit soon to be released - Black Cat Models April 5, 2021, 11:27:28, currently about the 10th message down) and thought that the LCI(L) kit you are interested in was about to become available. But someone pointed out that this was the 2nd series without the large bow doors:

For you deep water folks, this is a 2nd series Landing Craft Infantry (Large), LCI-351 class, featuring larger superstructure, different conning tower and heavier armament than LCI(L)-1 class.

LCI(L)-351 class were in many, many places, first alongside LCI-1 class and then later, with the no-side-ramps / bow-doors / modified forecastle, in company with final LCI(L)-402 class.

LCI(L)-351 class can also be converted to early LCI(G) gunboats and LCI(M) mortar boats, with a wee bit of effort.

LCI(L)s were built in 14 shipyards (both coasts and Chicago(!), so hull numbers are not class-sequential and detail variants abound, as do camo options.

Ben answered, it looks like you shouldn't have to wait much longer for this very cool kit:

I do agree with you about the numbering of the LCI(L) series, in my mind it was the first one with the rounded guntubs and bridge.

Next kit planned from Black Cat Models will be the LCI(L) with the doors on the bow. Prototype is already done, and production will start soon.

Just thought I'd give you a head's up in case you haven't heard from him. Ben posts fairly regularly on steelnavy and seems to answer questions fairly quickly. To post there, there's no need to register.
