Some good News. It seems many people have had a hard time trying to purchase my second book "PT BOATS behind the SCENES" Amazon will soon begin has begun to offer the book in paper-back so that buyers can now get the book without problems. As mentioned available at amazon. An inside look at the massive efforts needed to keep the Navy's PT Boats in fighting trim. From the stories of Repair Training Units, Bases, FEMU barges, and tenders, the reader will get a real understanding of the men who made up these specialized units. Almost two hundred rarely seen photographs selected by Frank J. Andruss Sr, curator of the acclaimed Mosquito Fleet Exhibit. Photographs and ship histories of every PT tender that operated in World War II. Numerous photographs of forward bases in the Solomons, New Guinea, the Dutch East Indies, the Philippines, the Mediterranean, and England. Detailed accounts of personnel, facilities, and curriculum at the Repair Training Units. An indispensable and unique source for anyone interested in the history of U.S. patrol torpedo boats in World War II.

Frank
I got this book for Christmas a couple of years ago. I can recommend it as a great reference with pictures on virtually every page. A lot of base and support ship pics but also close up and on deck PT boat photos.
Thanks Frank!

Thanks!
Jeff

Thanks so much. I am happy now that the book is again being offered. Seems Amazon dropped the ball for a long time.

Hi Frank, glad to see you have been busy with yet another new project. You are sure keeping the history alive, My son will be up in your area in a few weeks and was wondering if you have established a permanent, open to the public, location for the PT Boat Exhibit or is it still housed in your home when we came to visit so many years ago. If it is now open to the public, please let me know so I can forward along the information.

Roy I was still doing some small exhibits and because of Covid we had to cancel a nice exhibit that was planned for the Springfield Museum to honor the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. At this time to answer your question I have never been able to furfill my dream of my own PT BOAT Museum. I have continued to collect items over the years and have done my best to educate those that know little about the PT SERVICE. I have been lucky to have 3 books published. Usually I entertain people who wish to drop by the house to talk PT BOATS and to check out my artifacts but at the moment again due to covid that is not possible. ALL THE BEST.

I completely understand not wanting strangers going through your house looking at your exhibit and spreading the Chinese Wuhan from your dinning room to your basement. I sure hope that at some point you will find that perfect location for a Museum that would be open to the general public full time and would allow everyone to enjoy that huge and still growing collection of items displayed the way they deserve to be observed under the proper conditions. Thanks for the update.

Roy always been a dream of mine to have my own Museum but I doubt that will happen now. I will have to be happy with doing my books, and doing small outside exhibits once we can open up the country with this covid virus. All the best to you and the family
