OK Troops,

I'm posting this as a new topic so you won't miss it in the previous posting.

I've got special permission from USNI to post this link for my article on Todd City. It is only going to be up until January 4.

I told them that this forum is full of PT boat nuts, like me, and this is where the full impetus was for me writing the article. So I've got this okayed by them.

And if your so inclined, subscribe to NAVY HISTORY magazine.

Enjoy.

Thanks for posting, interesting read. Maybe someday the folks doing some work on the island for tourist will have an idea of more of the WW-II history there.

Lumbari Island from 2008, looking west. Most likely a couple of the coconut trees to the right of the mangroves would have been where they strung the Todd City sign. You can see Aussie Paul on the beach there- be advised don't zoom in too much, as a close-up of him may effect your computer screen (gotcha Paul..lol).

To the right on the beach is a 37mm piece along with an anchor just behind it( zoom in) ...

note: both the 37mm and anchor were gone during my visits in 2009/2012.

On this beach in 1981 were (as I mentioned in another post), the rusting remains of two US jeeps and one US amphibious jeep. Just inland from them laying in the bush was a .50 cal with a bent barrel...all are either gone, or may have been moved because of potential theft.

Is "Aussie Paul" the same gentleman that is building the 109 replica?
