Nice work Arjan! I didn't realize the Vikings had such advanced technology. Electric motors, who knew? The figures look great too. Thanks for sharing your fine work.

Thanks David, these underwater motors can also be very useful for models that are too small for a conventional motor and drive.
Jeff: I looked up the Billing Boats Hjejlen on the internet because I didn't know it. Looks like a very nice model ! I'm a fan of BB kits and especially the vintage ones. After the Oseberg Longboat kit I built BB's Regina Yacht which is a vintage kit. I'm now working on BB's 1/15 scale Colin Archer.
My 1/30 BB Regina gaff cutter :

That is a pretty little ship Arjan, and again well done! The gold leaf scroll work at the stern adds a nice touch. Does it also have an electric motor?
The Hjejlen was a nice kit but a bit above my pay grade at the time. My main hobbys were plastic models and balsa stick and tissue rubber powered scale planes which my limited tools of xacto knife, razor saw and miter box, sanding block, and single edged razor blades easily handled. The wood in the Hjejlen kit was harder and a real bear for a kid with an exacto knife. It did many long stints on the shelf. I was relieved and proud of myself when I finally got it done.

No the model doesn't have an electric motor. I merely added a steering servo but it's not a viable rc model , it's simply too small for that. That's why I bought a second hand 1/15 Colin Archer kit, this should build into a proper rc sailing boat.

Jeff, I think at one time or another, we have all been victims of the old Chinese curse, "may you get what you wished for!"

Very nice work. I like that you add figures which brings them to life.

Thanks David, I always try to find some suitable figures. In this case the helmsman started life as a 1/32 Airfix Multipose figure (U.S. Marines). I used some milliput which was later trimmed into shape :
