Can anyone explain the meaning of the following entries in a service record from WW II era?
1- Rec Boston Mass R/SI QM2c General Detail
2- Tran Boston, Mass R.S. Corporal of Guard
Also, what is the proper way to refer to an Eagle (PE) boat #55?
Is Eagle 55 correct, or is PE 55 correct, or shoulkd it be USS Eagle (PE) 55, or what?
Thanks for the help.

There are more knowledgable people on here, but I'll post what I know.
On my grandfather's papers, R/S stands for receiving station. My granfather was transferred in and out of the receiving station in Boston a couple of times, it was called the "Fargo Building."
QM2c would be Quartermaster Second Class.
The other stuff would just be guesses on my part...I'll let others weigh in. Good luck!

Just a little info for you all. The Fargo building is still there however, the recieving station now is adjacent to the old Fargo building in the Barnes Building at 495 Summer St..

I dunno...if it's Boston and the duty is general/generic, maybe the Corporal of the Guard could mean he reported there and was assigned guard duty? I'm not a Navy man, so I'm purely guessing here.

Corporal of the Guard would most likely have been a temporary, assigned duty having to do with internal/external security of the facility....

There was a prison below the Fargo building too. Perhaps it had something to do with it??

1) Received Boston, Mass receiving station one Quartermaster 2nd class-assigned general detail. (Fargo building was the receiving station)
2) Transferred Boston, Mass receiving station to new detail as corporal of the guard. (A different detail e.g. in security like shore patrol)
3) In Perth Amboy, NJ we always referred to our ship as USS Eagle 48 prior to December 1941.
