Hello-I am looking at doing in the future a model of PT-59 when JFK commanded it. I have no clue as to where to start. I believe it was an Elco 80 foot boat? As of now I am going to start work soon on Revell's new mold PT-109. Thanks for any help. John

Actually PT59 was an Elco 77 foot boat. This will get you started: http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?fid=102&cid=101&tid=3981&st=0&nd=10&pg=1&sc=20

Thank you. This may take a while as I can find no suitable models for a 77 foot Elco boat. For curiosity sake what was the RON number for PT-59 when it was under Kennedy's command? Thank You. John

This can be quite a project and take some time IF you can find a suitable model.

I built the PT-61 (1/20 scale -radio controlled) as a gunboat and used some of the information on the 59 boat as there was very little on the 61. The Bofors (fore and aft) were army guns (all three, 59, 60, and 61 had them) which I scratch built. I was in the middle of building this boat when I swung over to 3D modeling and printing which makes thing a lot easier.

Additional armor and features were unique to these boats. There are drawings of the gunboats out there as well as a fair amount of photos of the 59 as a gunboat and shortly afterward.

Check out:

It was well worth the effort as these make unique models. I guessing there are less than ten models of these gunboats world wide.

Thank you for that great information. This will definitely be a long term project. For now I will busy myself with the new 1/72 Revell PT-109. Sorry for theslow response but I have been having a hard time logging in. Is there a secret as to where and how to log in. I keep getting an error message saying my name and pass word do not match! This is down right frustrating as I keep records with all my sites and user names and passwords! Thanks again. John

Every time I ltry to log in I get:

"The user name you are trying to use is registered. Please use another name."

I then have to re-login. Seems that I can't stay logged in as well.

Testing Log-in for member above . . . .

All seems to work just fine - no issues
Without logging in, I simply, typed this test POST, then typed in your User Name and New Password at the end of the POST page and it worked without issue.

1.) Posting worked without any hitch.
2.) Login is not needed to view any page/data on this website.
3.) Login is only required when making a POST
4.) The Login can be done at the end of your post no need to pre-sign-in
5.) After typing your post, all is needed is to type in User Name and
filling in your Password
6.) However, you do have to type your name and password exactly or the Login won't occur and an Error will be noted.

It appears you changed your password from the original password you request when applying for membership, something most member can't figure out. But they never seemed to have any issues, it must simply be a typo issue. Or, your computer browser might be storing the original password that has since been changed.

Hope future login cause no issues, there isn't much I can do. All we can try to do, is delete your current account and create a new account with a simpler name and simpler password.
