In early June boats of Ron 34 and 35 were stationed at Portland. I tried to locate some of the period pics.
The iconic row of houses at the seafront shows a chimney with the shape of an inverted "Y" :
The same chimney can be seen here :
Same row of houses, chimney not visible :
I marked the chimney which is barely visible in the background :
This pic shows that at this point the recognition stars had already been painted on Ron 34 boats but not yet on Ron 35 ones.
Another pic which probably also shows Castletown in the background. At this point a recognition star had been added to PT 520 :
These Ron 35 boats also still seem to lack the recognition stars :
I marked the location of the building which can be seen in the background of the previous pic :
Finally a well-known pic also taken at Castletown :

Another pic showing Castletown in the background :
This pic clearly shows the buildings also visible in the PT 515 pic, the radar domes of some of the PT boats can just be made out behind the RN Motor Launches :
A view showing the PT boats and the Motor Launches from the other side :

These two pics posted on The Mosquito Fleet Exhibit also show Castletown and the Verne Citadel. Moreover, PT 72 , Ron 2(2), can be distinguished in both these pics .

Hi Jeff, although not related to Castletown in any way, these two pics on the Mosquito Fleet Exhibit also caught my attention. They show that PT 545 had the same rubber boat locker as the boats of Ron 35 and some of Ron 34 .
The first pic also shows a remarkable addition to the airfoil wind deflector ?

What do you see that is unusual Arjan? It looks like the standard airfoil to me:

You are right, just an optical illusion caused by the streak of camo paint. Fortunately, I have an appointment with my oculist next week ......

HAH been there done that. But they did add some curious wind deflectors as we've seen in other posts.
