Last I heard Italeri was supposed to be coming out with a new 1:35th scale HIGGINS PT BOAT. This was to take place this year and I have yet to hear anything on the progress. Has anyone heard anything?

I don't think this has been on here before.
Found the box art on Italeri's upcoming 1/35th scale 78' Higgins PT on Tim Connelly's Special Interest Group.

I looked at this and just realized it is the aerial photo of the PT658 that we took a couple of years ago. LOL Do you recognize me in the starboard 50 cal gun tub?

Jerry;
Your right!
All they did was back date the boat, they also removed my retirement flag
Take care,

Darn, looks like it is going to be the same as the Elco 80 footer! In other words, a late model first, then years from now, the early version.

They added some funnels, replacing a guy with one. They also removed the 37mm and the operator. They changed the life raft to a life float. They removed the rocket launchers. Looks like they simplified the mast. They removed the smoke gen. They removed the vents between the torpedoes. They removed the camo. The house is shorter. But yep there's no doubt they are the same images with maybe a Photoshop "image to painting" filter applied.

Am I seeing 109 on the side of the BMG tub? Certainly doesn't look like the other 109's. (Elco 80).

That's what I thought I saw Jeff. It just didn't look right. Anyway, Al Ross's drawing of the PT-61 after conversion to a gunboat was very important to me for developing the 1/20 scale model of that boat. Tim Connelly sent me his personal copy.
On another note we (Suncoast Scale Model Boat Club at http://ssmbc-fl.org) had a model boat meet on May 5 and three 1/20 scale PT Boat models were there. (I did not go with the predicted bad weather which did shorten the meet.) I was sent some photos (not good quality) which I posted on the clubs photo page at http://ssmbc-fl.org/SSMBC-Photos-62.html. You can check out the smoke generator running on one of the boats. I hope to get the 61 boat there this coming Sunday so we will have four on the water, weather permitting.
