hello,
registerend yesterday to this forum.
in 2012 I started a pt Elco in a duo build with a vosper .
The Vosper got finished but midway building the Elco dropped 2 metre of a shelf.
it got put aside.
Now I'm restoring and trying to get it finished.
it's going to be a RON 35 boat 1944 D-Day and beyond
here is 1 pic to see if it gets accepted.
cheers,
Tom

hi Ted,
thanks for the welcome, above are a few photos of the boat as it is now and 1 the last as it was before the drop.
I'm trying to do the 518 RON 35 .
but I do have difficulty finding a good photo of the foredeck gun layout.
I know that at some time it had a 20mm and a 37mm but how they where placed I don't know.
at the moment I'm changing the port side to an older locker outside the wheelhouse.
cheers, Tom |

Hi Tom,
The pic Ted posted of PT-518 and PT-515 at Portland Bill shows the same line up of boats as this one. PT-518 and PT-515 are in the second row :

It looks as if there is only a 20mm Oerlikon on the port side of PT-518's foredeck. That is, if the 37mm guns didn't have the curved handle bars.Looking forward to seeing pics of your progress on the build.
Groet,
Arjan

Arjan and Tom;
Excellent work!! Tom your placement of the 37MM's is spot on I will try to find another photo for you. Arjan the rubber Life boat locker is coming along nicely.
Take care,

Ted ,thank you .
I hope you can find a good images.
I was wondering if the ammo lockers that came with the kit for the 37mm are used on the real thing.I haven't found any photos for the European Elco's .
I finished the locker ,put some hinges and a grip on.
I also made a start to put 2 "heavy clamps next to the 40mm.
they must be shaped little better .
cheers, Tom

Tom;
Here you go:
PT 513 RON 35 37MM Port and Starboard.
Another for Arjan, PT 519 overhead onboard transport ship SS San Diego enroute to England. Notice the dog, in the photo Arjan posted earlier, the dog is laying down in front of the rubber life boat locked(next to the white arrow),
PT 519, PT 516, PT 520 RON 35 England 1944. Notice "Shoo-Shoo Baby" is on the side of the cabin. RON 35 emblems on port spray sheilds.
PT 519 Crew photo, Notice the 37MM loader to Port. Also radar is blacked out by the sensor. This might mean the Camo came later than we previously thought.. On the transport, the 20MM is to port and the boat is in painted in Measure 13.
PT 517 37MM Port and starboard.
Ken Campbell Radioman 3/C was a crewman on PT 518 RON 35, and he used to have a website on the internet dedicated to PT 518 and RON 35. I copied all of it in Print. To see it, you have to go on the Way Back Machine and find it, but I am having no luck., Nevermind I found it , put this in the wayback machine: http://members.cox.net:80/ptboat518/
Take Care,
