Well I thought I would wish all a Very Merry Christmas and hope you are all blessed with a safe and Happy New Year. We had a dear WWII PT Vet & his wife to our home this afternoon for Christmas dinner and I so look forward to hearing new stories and some older ones once again. But today after he was looking at the "What If" diorama and the addition of a few new boats since the last time he saw it, he asks, so where are the magic boxes. Now I thought he was pulling my leg only to find out he was quite serious. He then proceded to explain how really great they were I was suprised to find out I have never heard of these before. So I am wondering if I'm the only one that has missed this over the years and are these a little known gems from way back then hidden in the fog of war from others as well ?

Roy;
I hope you had a Merry Christmas too.

What did he actually say?
Pontoon bridge sections( 5 x 7 x 5 foot pontoon boxes) were also termed "Magic Boxes".
Take care,
TED

Hi Will & Ted. Well I must say I am a little surprised that this didn't have a bunch of replys but I guess most of the long time folks never heard of these like me. Yes Ted, that is what they are but I was told they could be used for many many different magic uses and it seems that hundreds are still laying around over there in the Solomons as of 3 years ago. Boy was I surprised that with everything I have read, these never came up or I just missed them. And you can imagine the look on my face when my buddy was inspecting my PT base turned around and asked where are the Magic Boxes? That is what makes all this deep history so much fun.

All the best guys and have a Very Healthy, Safe & Happy New Year.

Roy;
HaHaHa!!
What your Buddy did was give you more projects!! Now you have to build a floating drydock and maybe a floating pier all made from "Magic Boxes"!!
Take care,
TED
