Hello All,
I wonder if anyone out there can help me... As some of you may already know, I've been producing collectable coffee mugs featuring the restored emblems of WWII PT Boat Squadrons through my company, YKO Studio, LLC. I have usable examples of most of the squadron emblems, but in order to complete the full set, I need a few more. Does anyone have good quality photos (preferably in color) of RONs 5,7,8,10, and 26? I don't need photos of the patches (I have them already), what I need is photos of the actual painted plaques. Any help would be very much appreciated! If you're interested in what we currently have available, you can see them at
https://yko-studio.myshopify.com/collections/drinkware
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help,
Jon Olson

Jon;
You can find some here:

Take care,
TED
P.S. My best suggestion is to take the patches and redesign them(removing threading, cleaning up, etc) or go to Fall River and take photos of all the Squadron Emblems on the wall of the Quonset hut.

Hi Ted, Thanks for the link! Some great photos there, though nothing I need.
I've started editing the photos I have of the patches, but it looks like it may be too much work involved (with a lower quality result) to be cost-effective. It's frustrating that photos of the plaques I'm looking for are so difficult to find.
Best Regards,
Jon

Hi Jon,
I found a couple of photos that show RON8 and RON7 I will ask our webmaster Dick to post them here. They are from Bob Douglas on PT127 and Bill Skade on PT143. It doesn't look like they actually had a "logo" but something simpler, such as the Squadron Number 7 inside of a diamond for RON7 and R8N for RON8 with the upper part of the 8 standing in for the O in RON.

Hi Jerry, Thank you for responding! I'd be interested in seeing what you've got, even though it doesn't sound like what I'm looking for. The images of the patches I've got show RON 7 as being a mosquito riding a torpedo marked M.T.B. RON 7 above the water with a pair of dice in the water showing a 7, and RON 8 as a circle with MTB RON at the top and a large 8 below with a red and brown rooster in front of it. You can email me directly at info@ykostudio.com

Hey Jon and Ted and Dick
Thanks Dick for posting pics. Ted those are great interpretations of my verbal descriptions too. You aughta be an artiste! Anyhow Jon I saw that picture of Ron 8 patch so I didnt have any photos ofthat being actually used on a boat. I looked at RON26 (Huckins boats based in Hawaii) and didnt see anything there either. I just thought you would be interested in seeing what the boats actuallyhad on them. I guess not every RON had a logo?

Jerry and Jon;
PT 66 is the only RON 8 boat I know of that had the actual squadron logo painted on the side of the cabin. All other RON 8 boats, if they had it, carried the logo I posted above. The same with RON 12. It was mentioned to me by Alyce, about 20+ years ago, that several RON logos were thought to have been designed later in the RONs existence or even after the war.
PT 66 RON 8 1943-44 New Guinea.
Take care,
TED
