Dear Forum, it seams the mosquito boat logo designed by Disney studios early in the war is not seen on PT boats in the field. Why is this so? Thanks, Lee Greenwood

Thank you Charlie, I agree that the logo made a large target but just wondered if there was any other reason for the logo to be removed once in the field. Lee Greenwood

Lee,
There are lots of vintage photos of the Disney PT emblem - originally affixed to the sides of the charthouses of the 70' and 77' Elco PTs - being held by PT officers on the decks of PTs, and attached to their huts and signs in the forward areas.
As mentioned, they made nice, bright targets on night patrols, which is why they were removed from the boats.
