Hello all!
I was going through all of my grandfather's pictures from WWII and decided that they were too important to let waste away. I recently started to do high quality scans of all of them so that the entire family could enjoy them and so there was a copy that wouldn't fade from age or enviroment.
I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with all 200+ of them, but I decided in the meantime that this would be an appropriate place to share some of them. Pop was in Ron 15, PT-209 while in the Med; RON 23, PT-243 while in the Pacific. I've included as much information as I can gather from the pictures...if you have anything to add, please do! Enjoy...

Incredible. Those photos from Samar are among the best I've ever seen. If they don't move you, nothing will.

Hi
What more can you say but WOW.
I'm modelling the PT174 which would have been lined up with the PT170
ready to be burned.
Look forward to some more pictures sometime.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for all the comments...I'm glad I could share them with you guys. It's taken a while to get the pictures together...my computer isn't set up for such large scans of pictures. Most of the pictures are 3x4 in size...so a high resolution scan is needed to get the best quality out of them. After I scan them, I take them to work so I can "clean them up" - a lof of the pictures are yellow and cracked, so I use the software to fix them the best I can.
Here's some more you might enjoy:
LCI? somewhere in the Phillipines:
PT-243 and PT-244 docked during a visit to Romblon Island:
PT-243 leaving drydock after painting, possible at a place called "Anindoro?"
Not sure where this is (Green Island or Palawan Island) but Pop's caption is enough:
Zero on Palawan:
White Beach, Hollandia:
PT-209 dropping off Free French soldiers for a raid in Southern France, D+5, somwhere east of Toulon.
Invasion fleet during August 1944, St. Tropez area:
Practicing amphibious assaults near Gaeta Italy, preparing for Southern France:
PT-209 in floating drydock, either Corsica or Sardina:
One of Pop's crewmates, "Holter":
"Little Poison" in drydock, Corsica or Sardina:
PT-209's crew, 1944:
PT-243's crew, 1944:
One of my favorites; PT-209's mascot, Umbriaggo, on deck in Italy:

THIS IS FOUND HISTORY, SOMETHING THAT WE'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. EXCEPT FOR YOUR SHARING THEM WITH US, COULD HAVE BEEN LOST FOREVER. WE NEED MORE "FOOTLOCKER PHOTO'S" TO TELL THE COMPLETE STORY OF WHAT OUR FATHERS WOULDN'T TELL THEIR CHILDREN. MANY THANKS FOR SHOWING THE PHOTOGRAPHS. ANOTHER HOLE IN HISTORY HAS BEEN FILLED.
