My Father was a S1c(gm) serving in the PT in Souther Pacific during WWII. I've found some of hisService Record entries, but no specific information. He was assign to MTB Field Torpedo Unit #4 reported in 12/31/44 entry. In July 1945 he was aboard the Jamestown, then VMTB-13. In August 1945 he was on VMTB-30. In January and February 1946, he was aboard LSCL-3 67.

An interested piece of information I was able to piece together is that he must have been stationed at the NavMag in Brisbane, Australia, during the time he graduated Boot Camp on 6/22/43 until transport on AK-104 Ganymede on 7/31/44. I have no information on date for Enlistment, entry into Great Lakes, post BC graduation, or Discharge.

Any help I can get trying to determine which boats and which Bases he was at would be greatly appreciated.

Like so many of you, I loved the Navy and retired As a Chief Petty Officer in 1988. My Father attended my retirement and died 6 months later. He talked very little about his experiences but I saw tears in his eyes the day I was piped over.

Looks like he enlisted on May 4, 1943 in Akron, Ohio. Received at NAVMAG 134 (Brisbane) on May 14, 1944. Left NAVMAG 134 on July 19, 1944 to go to CommMTBRON7th Flt. Still looking for activity after boot camp.

He enlisted either May 4th or 5th, 1943 (I see two different dates) and went to Great Lakes NTC May 12, 1943. Finished Boot Camp and was sent to NT SCH (Navy Training School?) Great Lakes on July 29, 1943.

Haven't found anything on NTSCH Great Lakes yet.

When he arrived at NAVMAG 134, he came from SRU 134. Not sure if SRU is Ship repair unit, Sub Repair unit or what, but still in Brisbane.
