Well every one associated with the Pt orginization I wish to thank each and everyone of you personally, those who have given me snippets of information on Cecil Eugene Sellers, PT 144. I had success on Thursday the second of August. ( ironically it was the 16th anniversary of my mother's passing) I found Cecil's family. Unfortunately he had passed away in 1996. He met my mother in 1923 in Cairns Australia and they had a relationship, soon after mum had to leave the AWAS ( Australian Womens Army Service) as she was having his child. My eldest sister was born in June 1944. They lost contact with each other and for nearly 50 years my sister has been looking for her biological father. She gave up a few years ago but I was determined to find her dad, I knew who my dad was and felt her pain. With the information she gave me at her 60th, 3 years ago I was lucky to receive letters headed with his name and MTB, PT 144 Base 4 and Base 6. (mum had saved these letters and gave them to my sister before she died) From there I found out MTB stood for Motor Torpedo Boat. Then I discovered this web site. I was not so lucky finding Cecil by ringing the men on the roster I was given, but I chatted to some amazing people and not one of them was rude to me. Beautiful people from far away with such respect and consideration. Thanks to Mr Russ Willoughby and his wife, Mr Arthur Ives and Marty Johnson for being so sympathetic. Also through my research I found Mr Ives and reunited him with the Willoughby's. They thought he had passed away. I was chuffed about that. Finally last week for some reason my sister went through some paper work while I was on the phone to her and revealed an obituary to me. I took the names of three children and searched in the white pages. Only one phone number was listed so I took the chance and hoped it was the right relative. It took a lot of convincing , then the guy finally agreed for me to call his sister. I rang her and well everything matched. If it wasn't for the letters and them recognising his hand writing well I don't think we woud have found his family. Thanks mum!! Now my sister not only has 5 sisters in Australia she has 2 more sisters and a brother in America. A fantastic result all round!! Thanks Everyone. Sincerely Katrina

Hi Katrina,

What an amazingly wonderful story. My sister and I have often speculated about the probability of having an Aussie brother or sister, since our father Marvin "Pat" Horton was in Australia on leave and while hospitalized after PT133 was destroyed. If you ever run across anyone looking for Pat Horton, we'd love to know.

Best regards,

Patricia "Cia" Horton-Pinello
