Nice catch Daniele, I sure did miss it!
Part 39 is the strip at the front of the day cabin covering the removable roof section joint Bill. They show it on the bottom of page 3.
Famous eh, I better get them done! I spent most of today making a drilling jig, what fun.

Nice looking set, I will purchase it and hope I find time to do a build. Between this set, the White Ensign and Jeff’s now famous set of toe rails, this will be a fun build. So ... what is part 39? I do not see it in the instructions.

That’s a mystery Bill. Eduard has you remove the trim from the front of the Day Cabin and replace it with this strip of photo etch. You can see it being added with the flag box in the instructions.

The stock strip looks short and thick in the Eduard instructions, full scale it was 5/8" x 2 3/16". It also appears to be cut out by Revell in way of the flag locker, as I mentioned the locker didn't show up until PT 187 from what I can tell. Curious that they didn't supply strips for the sides and aft, they should all be the same dimensionally.

A short review was posted by a modeler on steelnavy, he mentions that the the parts fit together well although he doesn't say how far he got checking:
Machine-guns are fair, not in love with the sprue connections on the barrels but will not bother replacing them. The 37mm gun barrel seems a tad under scale. The 20mm has good detail. The kit almost fits together with Tamiya like quality.

New foot rails in 1/72 scale? Count me in! The White Ensign PE rails are nice, but they just do not look right (too thin and flat methinks)! Besides they are outrageously expensive on Evil Bay for what you get. The new Revell 1/72 scale PT Boats are very nice ( I have 2), but they are screaming for after market replacement foot rails! These are very prominent. Nothing I can find from Shapeways or other AM suppliers, to replace them. I will be trying the very laborious task of making then from sheet styrene. Help!

Only problem with the White Ensign PE set -- any PE set, actually -- is that they have too many parts that were/are 3D in actuality represented by flat, 1D pieces.
Some pieces will suffice, but...

There will be a second photo etch set covering life raft and guns. At this point there are no photos of the second set so not sure what all will come with that. Who know's, maybe there will ultimately be a Big Ed set for this kit. :-)
I've started a conversation with Eduard and am sharing some ideas with them. If the parts sell well they may do some additional.
Eduard's news letter should be out in a couple of weeks. We'll see what they have for the boat then.
