Looking for pics of PT490 and sqdrn 33......My grandfather served on 490 as radioman. I have a veteran owned and operated nonprofit military museum GHQ MILITARY MUSEUM and will be doing an exhibit of PT's in squadron 33.
Also any PT vets and modelers around the south Chicago area?
Thanks Bob . MA1 USNR GWOT......

Hey Robert -
I just rejoined the forum - and saw your post. Let me know what you are interested in - my father, Paul Thomas Conway - was the QM and the forward .50 gunner for PT 490. He was on the boat the day MacArthur and his team were aboard, as well as several ops with drop-offs for submarines and raiders. I have the American flag that flew the day MacArthur was onboard, the Commissioning Pennant - and the original boat plaque (1 of 2) painted by Anthony Valero, that says Little Butch.
I have photos as well.

PT Conway;
Welcome back! Would it be possible for you to post some photos of these items from PT 490?
Take care,
TED

Good Morning Ted - and thank you for your request. Dick Washichek was very helpful getting me lined up yesterday to post photos.
I took several photos this AM of the PT 490 Ensign as well as the nameplate for the Little Butch. I will be posting these today. I will also post images of the writing on the back of the nameplate - my father had attended a Bull Session in 1985 in Augusta, Maine (one of several he went to) and he took the time to carefully list the crew members and where he took the nameplate off PT 490 (Samar).
I will also post several photos of Varney PT Boat models that I have - and while I recognize that the paint and details may not be to the standards of the experts on the forum, the nice memory I have is that the camouflage model was on his desk at the Department of Defense, where he worked for nearly 30 years after WWII.
Yesterday, I went ahead and posted a few photos on the forum that I had readily available on my laptop, including a great one of the 40MM on the fantail.
Cheers.

Jerry - thanks for your email. I actually posted about 16-17 images over on the PT Boat Forum Photo Gallery with the great assistance of Dick Washichek - please let me know if I can give you any other assistance. I will be posting more images in the next 7-10 days. Thank you for your interest.
