Back in the 1970s, John Scott Paine (son of Hubert Scott Paine of British Power Boat Company) donated a boat to Battleship Cove (not PTBINC). It languished there for a number of years and was eventually destroyed.
This is her after the fire:
Back then, what I thought was a reliable source provided me with information on the boat. As the years passed and I learned more and more about BPB/CPB, I began to have doubts about the accuracy of this information. A question today from Ted has caused me to revisit this doubt.
At some point, I guess I'll have to visit Fall River and see if any documentation of this donation exists. In the meantime, if any of you guys happen to visit there, maybe you could inquire.,.,,?

I have learned never say never, but I have been a member of PT BOATS INC. for many years, probably since 1976. This is the first time I have heard this claim of a boat being donated and destroyed. Time to do some digging I guess.

Al,
Frank Szpaniack (sp?), Bill Hindle and Tim Rizzuto told me the story of this boat independently. Your source is correct. Reach out to Tim, he is currator on the USS Slater in Albany.
