The lights you mention on PT 61, the bow light forward is called the anchor light. The light behind the cockpit is the mast head light, even though the original mast on a 77' ELCO was a telescoping mast that could be lowered into the cabin when stowed. When at anchor, both of these lights would be the only lights illuminated as per rules of the road. Not used in combat zone, but required to be in full working order. When underway, both these in addition to the nav lights and stern light would be illuminated. Again not used in combat zone. The bow light was removed when 40mm was installed.
