I am currently in the final stages of building my 1/20th scale tribute to Lt. Browns PT 493. The story filled in some missing details, giving me a better understanding of her final hours.

All these photos are of the 493 boat. Most were given to me by Lt Richard Brown's son, Dale. A couple are copies of photos carried by Dick Brown in his wallet. The 3 model photos are of a boat by Lt Brown after the war and reflect the way the 493 looked when lost. The actual wartime color photos of the boat were sent to Dr. Snyder and he felt that there was substantial evidence to conclude the 493 was 2 shades of brown. One color photo shows the "Black Sheep" mascot that was added after a visit by some of Pappy Boyington's pilots on a familiarization visit after they mistakenly attacked some PTs.

I have lost contact with Dale Brown so I hope he is OK with my posting a link to my 493 album. I would ask that these photos be for your personal and private use only.

I also have action reports surrounding the loss of PT493 but they are in PDF format and i don't think i can post them here.

Thanks so much for the information, I was originally planning on doing the 495, due to her unique 20mm/.50 cal. weapon, but after seeing your beautiful rendition, and reading of the 493's fate, I choose her.

I will not share or forward any information, Larrry.

The 493 had an Acey-Dusey, too. You can see it in the model.
