I spoke to Bud's son Mike and told him what the PT Forum crew was doing to get the word out about the Final Patrol. His is, on behalf of the family, most appreciative.
More information....
There will be a small service at Ridgecrest Center in Mt. Airy, NC, which is where Bud and Lucy reside, this weekend. This service is primarily for the friends at Ridgecrest and some people in the community that knew Bud. Bud had asked for a low key affair in his Will according to Mike.
Son Mike and daughter Susan are now looking at having a Military burial for Bud at Arlington Cemetery. This requires some time to get approval so they anticipate this to take a few months. Bud’s Silver Star does qualify him. They will advise progress.
Bud and Lucy’s address is…..
Ridgecrest Retirement Center
1000 Ridgecrest Lane

Bud sent me this card with good advice. Through Bridge, I sent him a photograph ... and he was thanking me for it. Running in circles kept them alive when attacked at night by Rufes.

As a final update on Skipper Liebenow, the Mount Airy News, his local paper ran a front page story about the skipper that carried over to an additional 2/3 pages about his life. In addition to that another 1/2 page fantastic Editorial Page story ran titled The passing of Bud Liebenow, American Hero really hit home in today's times. Wonderful reading if you can obtain a copy.

December 11, 2017 -
I received and Email from our good friend and member, Bridge Carney with the following update on the passing of skipper Bud Liebenow of PT 157 & 199:
An update on Skipper Liebenow's official burial. Lt.(JG) William F. Liebenow, Skipper of the PTs 157 (in the Pacific) and the PT-199 (of the coast of France on D-Day) will indeed be awarded a full military funeral at Arlington National Cemetery based on his service and his being awarded the Silver Star for actions while commanding the PT-157. The funeral will be either in June or August 2018....almost 1-1/2 years after his passing. Skipper Liebenow had pass away earlier in February 2017.
This information was relayed to Bridge by Bud’s daughter Susan Liebenow.
