Been out of model making for years, decided to get back in a couple of years ago.
I purchased the revel 1/72 109, the Italieri 1/35 109 and 596... and they have been sitting untouched due to recent health issues. With spring coming soon, I am hoping to get the cars out of the garage and set up a space to get started finally.
I have the 37MM for the 1/72 109 and I think that will be the first one I do.
The Italieri 109 and 596 are for once I scrape away the rust and barnacles from my meager abilities.
I saw Steve Soberelski's PT 559 and I am interested in building that version. I know Steve scratch built a lot including the Elco Thunderbolt, but I just bought one from Shapeways for the future 559 project (from the 596). Has anyone else used that particular piece?
any other suggestions on converting the 596 to the 559 will be appreciated.

I'm with you, Jeff...
I've got the Italeri 1/35th scale 103-class, the old Lindberg 1/32nd scale, and several Revell 1/72nd scale 80' Elco kits, all awaiting my retirement.
Good luck with your return to modeling.

I also have the Lindberg 1/32 109 , not really that accurate, would take a lot to get it right.
