Nick;
This is the first I have heard of a ELCO in the Morehead City/Atlantic Beach, NC area. Nice find!
Back in the early 1990's I asked PT Boats Inc, if they had a list of EX-PT Boats and they sent me a list of about 40 boats, many were just "sightings" some had the owners names. some were "doubles" because boats were sold or moved in the winter(East Coast). The list represented sightings from the late 1950's to the late 1980's. A Higgins PT was listed in this area. I wonder if it was this boat they saw.
Take care,
TED

Nick;
If I can get a name, more than likely I will find something. DANCO worked out of Morehead City, NC in the summer. In the winter they went to Marathon, FL.
As mentioned in the book, she was owned by CAPT Red Willis, and was so much larger than all the boats in the area, she was always docked on the East side of CAPT Bill's Seafood Restaurant at 7th and Evans ST, Morehead City, NC.
Take care,
