Hello everyone. It has been a while since I posted here, so I thought I would write a quick note. I visit this site almost daily, and always find new and intriguing things that you never see anywhere else. It makes for a better modeling experience, as well as informing and entertaining me, and I truly appreciate all the effort that goes into this. Here are some random thoughts: Does anyone know what happened to the boats used in the "PT-109" movie? I recall reading (somewhere) that one was lost in the Bermuda Triangle, but that was a long time ago. I have been wondering about the Elco boats that were for sale too. Is there any information about those? It seems a shame that such historically significant vessels should go begging. PT-40 is a veteran boat with a known record, and the other Elco 80 foot boat is sufficiently rare that it should be preserved for that reason alone. I read in the aviation magazines about guys that spend millions to recover and restore thoseaircraft. Why not these boats? If I had the money I would do so in a heartbeat. ANyway, just some thoughts that might cause a few conversations here.
Lett me be among the first to wish all of you out there the VERY MERRIEST CHRISTMAS AND THE HAPPIEST NEW YEAR EVER!! Take care and stay warm!!!

As far as the movie boats go, i believe one or a few were used after for boat tours.
Their whereabouts after i don't believe are known.
PT-40 operated for nikko boat tours out of miami, but hasn't been seen for a long while, many believe that she is still around, i would like to think so.

The boats in "PT-109" were ASRs altered to look like PTs.
