While channel-surfing the other day, I came across a documentary on Roy Rogers, "The King of the Cowboys," whom many of us grew up with while watching his TV show on Saturday mornings in the '50's and early '60's.
Included in the doc was a shot of Roy's yacht "Flamba,"which certainly looked to me like a converted 80' Elco PT.
I did a Google search for an image of the "Flamba," but all I could come up with was a shot of Roy and his daughter Cheryl from her website, which she states was taken on her Dad's "converted PT boat" which had "two diesels" in it.
While Googling, I found an AVR Society website which mentioned "Roy Rogers 85 Ft. AVR Boat yacht "Flamba," but I couldn't find a post that referenced it while scrolling through the site.
Anyone know anything about this, or which 80' Elco PT (or 85' AVR) "Flamba" might have been?

Drew;
Here is what I found:
In 1953, Roger(Cunningham) was approached by the Henrietta
Awards Committee (later to be called the Golden Globe Awards) who wanted him to
sponsor the awards at the Club Del Mar.
He also hosted the Foreign Press awards. Joan believes that, if it had not been for her father, the Golden Globe Awards would not exist today.
Roger entertained such people as John Wayne, Dean Martin, Tony Curtis,
Marilyn Monroe, and Lloyd Bridges at the Club Del Mar, as well as at his home.
Roger entered into a partnership with Roy Rogers on an 85-foot yacht called the
Flamba (meaning fire). They remained good friends until Roy's death.

Nothing comes up in the USCG Vessel search of course because it was too long ago.I wonder if Victor can find something on this boat?
Take care,
