The destroyer is USS Safely, DD-465, and after the war was used in the filming of the movie PT-109.

Interesting to note the 124 doesn't seem to have the rectangular antenna base present in that photo.
I guess the Safely was the destroyer seen being passed in the sunset by the outbound PTs on the August 1-2 '43 patrol in "PT 109."
