Ted as you know PT 242 was in Ron 23 after Ron 19 was decommissioned. I never got a boat when I went to the Philippines. I was at Base 17. At the dock at Green in the Solomons, the water was really clear and 25 to 30 ft. deep. You could see items on the bottom that other boats had dropped in the water.. Bob Pratt our quartermaster and I would dive down and retrieve buckets etc. from the bottom when we were tied up at the dock. I was a pretty good swimmer when I was 19 years old. Pratt was a stronger swimmer than me but he was a heavy smoker and I never smoked so I could stay under water longer than he..

Thanks for sharing, I knew you would like that story, you got to admit, a 75 pound pearl would have been something to haul home in your seabag!!
Take care,
